They are basically suggesting that if we wait too long, it will be too late to prevent very serious and irreversible changes to the earth and environment. Of course, the world would not die the next day, but the sooner we start the easier the process will be in the future.</span></span><br /><br /><span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-weight:700">Introduction to Carbon Dioxide</span></span><br /><span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">Carbon dioxide (chemical formula CO2) is a colorless and odorless gas critical to life on Earth. Natural sources on Earth are found in massive volcanic eruptions, hot springs and geysers, groundwater, rivers lakes, ice caps, glaciers and also in seawater. </span></span><br /><span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">Typically, by the content of human involvement, it is mainly released in burning of coal. In 1700, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere was 280 parts per million. &nbsp;Today, because we burn so much fossil fuel for energy, the atmosphere now contains over 400 parts per million of CO2.
